Policy Advocacy

A core part of our mission is advocating for policy changes that facilitate easier access to help for victims.

We focus on:

1. Identifying Harmful Policies: We research and highlight existing laws and policies that unintentionally create obstacles for victims seeking help.

2. Proposing Solutions: We develop and propose policy changes that would remove these barriers and improve support systems.

3. Collaborating with Lawmakers: We work closely with policymakers to educate them on the realities faced by exploitation victims and push for necessary changes.

4. Empowering Survivor Voices: We create platforms for survivors to share their experiences with policymakers, ensuring their perspectives are central to policy discussions.

5. Public Awareness Campaigns: We engage the public in our advocacy efforts, building grassroots support for policy changes.

Our Current Policy Agenda:

Sex Trafficking Accountability Act {Senate Bill S9960 and Assembly Bill A11323}

Allows survivors of sex trafficking to seek civil damages from both traffickers AND individuals and institutions that knowingly benefited from, enabled, or helped conceal human trafficking.

Child Abuse Reporting Expansion Act {Assembly Bill A8063 and Senate Bill S6919}

Enacts the child abuse reporting expansion act; relates to making clergy members required reporters of child abuse or mistreatment.
